A gorgeous vintage Azerbaijan rug, handwoven in the 1970s in a wonderfully unusual palette of burnt orange, powder blue, baby pink, chocolate brown and deep navy, with little flashes of mustard, ivory and turquoise woven throughout. It's one of those rugs where the colours shouldn't necessarily work together, but somehow they look absolutely incredible.

The warm burnt orange field is covered in hundreds of tiny geometric motifs, creating an almost hypnotic repeating pattern. Little diamonds, squares, stylised flowers and curved shapes are scattered across the surface, giving it a beautifully intricate, almost pixelated quality.

Taking centre stage is a large, ornate medallion in the dreamiest shade of powder blue, surrounding a deep navy centre filled with tiny geometric shapes and delicate pink floral details. The pale blue continues into the corner motifs, creating a lovely contrast against the warmth of the orange ground.

The borders are a beauty in themselves, with rich chocolate brown framing scrolling floral vines, baby pink flowers, dusty blue leaves and flashes of mustard yellow. There's something distinctly '70s about this colour combination, with those warm earthy tones and unexpected pops of pastel giving it a slightly psychedelic edge.

A proper belter alongside mid-century furniture, warm teak, dark woods, black leather, chrome or a more minimal contemporary interior. Traditional in design but wonderfully playful in colour.

Handwoven from wool, this piece has a lovely tactile vintage pile and all the subtle variations you'd expect from a genuinely handmade rug. The little irregularities in the pattern and colouring only add to its charm.
