A bold and beautifully graphic vintage Turkmen rug featuring an all over tribal gul design in rich oxblood, deep burgundy, ink navy, and ivory tones. Handwoven in Central Asia, this piece carries the unmistakable geometry and symbolism traditional to Turkmen weaving,  rhythmic, architectural, and incredibly striking in a modern interior.

Unlike softer floral Persian styles, Turkmen rugs are known for their strong repeated motifs, saturated natural dyes, and highly structured compositions. This piece has a distinctly graphic quality to it; the repeating hooked medallions almost read like a textile print or abstract artwork from a distance, giving it a very contemporary feel despite its age. The deep wine-toned field is layered with subtle shifts in colour and patina, adding warmth and depth without losing its boldness.

Originally woven by Turkmen tribes across regions of Turkmenistan and northern Afghanistan, these rugs were traditionally used within nomadic homes, from floor coverings to tent panels and storage pieces. Every motif carried symbolic meaning, often representing protection, heritage, and tribal identity.

This particular rug has an incredible balance of minimalism and intensity, perfect for grounding modern spaces, especially alongside chrome, dark woods, leather, or softer neutral interiors needing contrast and texture. It has that effortlessly collected feel that designers are constantly chasing.

Handwoven from wool with a beautifully soft, low pile and natural age-related wear that only adds to its character. Durable, timeless, and impossible to replicate.

In excellent vintage condition, with wear consistent with age. No holes or tears, although dose feature repair in areas. Professionally cleaned and ready for its next home.
