There's something pretty special about this one. A beautifully timeworn Persian Shiraz rug in a rich, earthy palette of burnt terracotta, rusty reds, deep indigo, warm chocolate brown and little flashes of faded turquoise and creamy ivory. Bold, beautifully aged and absolutely packed with character.
Taking centre stage are three striking geometric medallions in deep indigo blue, each filled with intricate little floral and tribal motifs. Their stepped, ivory-coloured outlines create a wonderfully graphic contrast against the warm rust-red ground, while scattered symbols, tiny flowers and geometric shapes fill every available space. There's so much lovely detail to get lost in.
The surrounding field is just as interesting, with its irregular, almost architectural shapes and beautifully softened colours. The intricate borders bring everything together, combining repeating geometric motifs in navy, ivory, rust and warm earthy tones. The whole design has that wonderfully organic, slightly imperfect quality that makes old tribal rugs so special.
And then there's the colour. Those deep rusty reds, faded indigo blues and warm chocolate tones have aged beautifully together, with subtle variations in the pile giving the rug an almost painterly, textured appearance. There's something distinctly mid-century about the combination, particularly alongside those bold, graphic medallions.
A proper belter alongside dark woods, black leather, chrome, warm timber and vintage furniture. Equally gorgeous in a more minimal contemporary space, where all that colour, texture and pattern can do the talking.
Handwoven by Qashqai weavers in the Shiraz region of southern Iran, this rug reflects the rich tradition of Persian tribal weaving. Made from wool, its intricate geometric motifs and wonderfully individual composition are characteristic of these beautiful handwoven pieces.
The pile has softened with age, giving it that relaxed, lived-in vintage feel, with areas of natural wear and fading adding to its character. It's the kind of rug that only gets more interesting the longer you look at it.
Earthy, graphic and just the right side of rugged. A proper statement piece with a whole lot of history and personality woven into it.
In lovely vintage condition for its age, with visible areas of pile wear and fading throughout, as shown in the photographs. Professionally cleaned and ready for its next home.
