Anar
A gorgeous vintage Persian Shiraz rug with a seriously rich colour palette of deep crimson red, navy blue, plum brown, inky black, forest green, flashes of burnt orange and crisp ivory. Bold, graphic and packed with character, this is exactly the kind of tribal Persian rug that can completely transform a room.
Three large stepped diamond medallions run through the centre of the rug, sitting against a densely patterned red field scattered with tiny geometric and floral motifs. The darker medallions create loads of contrast, while the jagged ivory outlines and graphic border give the whole design an almost punky edge.
There’s something wonderfully raw and expressive about Shiraz rugs. The patterns aren’t overly polished or formal, and that slightly irregular quality is a huge part of their charm. This one feels particularly bold, with its saturated reds and almost black central medallions creating a dramatic design that somehow feels just as relevant now as it would have decades ago.
Handwoven in the Shiraz region of southern Iran, the rug is made from wool with a beautifully tactile pile and sturdy construction. These tribal rugs were made to be lived with, and the dense pattern and darker colour palette make them especially brilliant for busy living rooms, bedrooms, dining spaces or anywhere that needs a proper statement piece.
Pair it with chrome and stainless steel for contrast, dark woods and leather for something moodier, or throw it into a colourful eclectic interior and let the pattern do its thing.
Rich, graphic and full of soul. A proper Persian beauty. 🖤
In lovely vintage condition with the character and irregularities expected of a handwoven rug of its age. Professionally cleaned and ready for its next home.
